After our quick stop in Huntsville, AL checking out the Space Center, we traveled to Talona Ridge in Ellijay, GA. This is one of our favorite RV resorts, and we had stayed there previously in the fall of 2022. However the day after our arrival, Richard drove Sian to the Atlanta airport and she headed to a work summit in Henderson, NV for a few days, including a nice dinner in Las Vegas.
Richard and Snickers enjoyed the resort and then picked Sian up at the airport and returned to Talona Ridge, just in time to meet up with friends for a huddle.
We always enjoy reuniting with friends on the road and this huddle was our third with this group. The first evening everyone connected to catch up on the news of their travels.
The following day we went apple picking and enjoyed dinner with entertainment. The third day was “give back day” and we headed to a local school to help spruce up things that needed some TLC. We were part of a group that painted a guardrail bright yellow.
Others, cleared walking trails and painted a canopy entrance. Then we all grabbed a quick lunch before heading out to our white water rafting excursion on Tennessee’s Ochee River. Both Sian and Richard have been on several white water rafting trips in the past, but this one provided more excitement than was expected, or wanted! The conditions on the river were difficult and many people were thrown from their rafts and into the rapids. This happened twice to Sian! She was pushed down by the water, had to fight to get a breath, swallowed a lot of water, and bounced off and over rocks getting a little battered. It was very scary, but we all survived.
We have decided that there will be no more white water rafting trips in the future for us.
After some more entertainment and visiting with the Switch Crew, we headed off to Mountain Falls in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina for a couple of weeks. Working on the road gives us the weekends to check out the area and this was a place to enjoy!.
