December 2022
Even though I (Sian) am working remotely from the RV, we take every opportunity to see what we can on the weekends. While we were staying in the panhandle we ventured to Pensacola, Destin, Miramar Beach, and Defuniak Springs. In Defuniak Springs they have Christmas Reflections with lights around the lake, along with vendor booths and the tree lightening where Santa and Mrs. Claus welcomed visitors.
A restaurant, Marina Cafe in Destin, FL was recommended and did not disappoint. Richard’s steak was among the best that he’s ever had, and there have been many!
As soon as we arrived at Thousand Trails Orlando in Clermont, FL, we decided to head to Disney Springs for a late lunch at The Boathouse.
After walking through Disney Springs shopping, we headed to some of the resorts on the monorail to take in some of the Christmas decorations. Our first stop was Disney’s Grand Floridian to see the lobby with their famous gingerbread house and majestic Christmas tree. We also stopped at the Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Contemporary by jumping on the monorail. Next we met with friends at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, then enjoyed dinner with them at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside.
The following weekend we made a trip to Universal Orlando, for our next weekend adventure. We headed through Disney’s Island of Adventure to ride The Forbidden Journey and took Hogwort’s Express from Hogsmeade Station to experience the character projection on the train ride to London’s Kings Crossing Station and made our way to Diagon Alley and get in line for Escape from Gringotts. We enjoyed the rest of both parks, Universal’s Island of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida.
We ended our time at Universal heading to Voo Doo Doughnuts at Universal’s City Walk. Our weekends are exhausting but fun!
