5 O‘ Clock Somewhere

January 2023

After a little down time at “The Surf” (literally with my head down working), we were ready to ease into the relaxing island feel of Camp Margaritaville, before the Switch It Up Huddle (https://goswitchitup.com).

We scored one of the five “5 O’Clock Somewhere” sites at the Chill Pool and Bar, complete with our own Tiki Hut with a bar, tv, sink, fridge, grill, bbq, hammock, picnic table and adirondack chairs. I had a few more workdays before my scheduled vacation during the upcoming huddle.

We were delighted to be invited for dinner with some Switch Crew members we met at the Tampa RV Rally. We later learned some to be part of a group chat labeled “Cool Kids” and some known as the 202 Club (last ones to leave at 2:02am). Anyway, over the next few days we met more and more Switch Crew Members.

The first evening of the huddle was registration and dinner getting to meet even more RVers. We picked up our personalized flag and were ready for the first event, which was to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, where we organized a Restore location in Polk County. With the entire Switch Crew who volunteered at five different locations in the area, together we “Made an Impact”. Another day a charity poker tournament was organized, and it was so much fun. The last three standing in the poker tournament were all WOMEN. So proud of you all. And the best part was it was all for Charity!

The Florida Huddle Facebook Page posted the following:

The 70’s themed dinner cruise was so much fun. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was inspiring!

We took over Wekiwa Springs on a kayak and paddle boarding trip. I don’t think they have ever seen that many people in one group. It was amazing to see all of the Switch Crew staged and ready to go. We enjoyed our paddle in a two person kayak, and saw not only our friends, but a few creatures along the way. We also got to meet Harold, Cindy, Makayla & Nick, from “1StrangeAdventure” You Tube Channel. Love to see their family adventures, but even better to sit by the fire hearing their stories.

The evening entertainment, after dinner with the crew, was Ryan Harmon, a country singer contestant from American Idol. He is such a talented guy with a great sense of humor and now officially a crew member who will be at the next huddle In Tennessee in the spring.

We loved meeting everyone at the Florida Huddle. We are officially Switch Crew Founder’s Club Members (SCFC) with one huddle under our belt. So many friendships were made over this long weekend, all because of Sheila and Todd’s You Tube Channel that became a family. The Switch Crew always makes a positive impact on the community!

Until the next huddle, we will keep in touch and plan our journey to connect along the way.
