Tennessee to Kentucky

After a quick visit back to Red Bay, AL where we saw our friends the “Dills” we stayed at the Broken Banjo RV Park in Manchester, TN, on our way to Kentucky.

We spent one week in Park City near the Diamond Caverns. We took the 45 minute tour through the “living” cavern. With the walls dripping with water, the different rooms of the cavern were so unique. There was even a chapel room where small intimate weddings had taken place. It was a sweet little place to visit that we highly recommend if you are looking to tour a cavern. There are many caves in the area but we chose to patronage this little local cavern rather than the larger Crystal Onyx and Mammoth Caves.

Our next stop was just up the road, staying at the Cave Country RV Campground which was a small well cared for campground with all pull through sites that were level gravel sites. The train did come through early and late in the day, but the company we had did not let that bother us. We met some new friends that we will be sure to keep in touch with.

Headed to a local Burger and Shake shop that is located down the street from the park, along with sharing stories by the campfire.

Our next stops were at Harvest Host locations. The first overnight was Lafayette Golf Club. The drive in had branches brushing the top of our rig, so we suggest this to be a stop for smaller to medium size rigs. We enjoyed the view of the deck while eating BBQ dinner. Because of our size, they had us park out at the Mansion on their property, which was quiet and pleasant.

The second Harvest Host stop was an amazing stay at Hinton’s Orchard and Farm located in Hodgenville, KY. The owners, Jeremy and Joanna Hinton are fantastic hosts. Their farm stand offered a variety of honey, oils, jams, sauces and dressings. Along with meats and homemade bread, apple turnovers and strawberry muffins, there was a sweet children’s section with garden themed toys.

I took a walk around their greenhouses that were filled with spring flowering plants in bloom. There was a greenhouse filled with tomato plants and another greenhouse with ferns and palm trees.

There were several locations to park the RV. We chose the gravel road next to their little pond. Frogs would hop across the water when I walked around the pond for some photos. We loved putting our chairs out over looking the pond. Snickers did too!

The apple orchards are a great place to stroll!
