January 2022
We had been saving for an RV for many years. Before every new purchase made, Sian would ask, ”Would this fit in our future RV? Would we need it?” If the answer was No, then we waited to make sure it was something we really could not do without, while still living in our sticks and bricks. Over the course of three years (2019, 2020 and 2021), we looked for a 37-40 ft quality Class A motorhomes that would meet our needs for layout and equipment, for the price we were willing to pay. At this point we had a good idea of what was out there, from a quality perspective. We had decided our focus would be either Tiffin or Newmar, with a few years under its belt.
With some close friends, we headed to the Tampa RV show January 2022 to begin the process of seriously starting our RV shopping, looking for the right coach for us. We were not actually looking at the current models at the show, we were more interested in talking to people and making connections to dealers that may have used RV’s, as in the north there is not much inventory for the type of RV we were looking for.
At the RV show we were not only able to talk to RV dealers and manufacturers, we talked to people that owned them. Asked for the good, the bad and the ugly. This helped to solidify the direction we were going.
We were delighted that we were able to catch up with Julie and Marc Bennet of RV Love at the Open Road and Lippert booths. Several years ago, we began their RV Success School the day it opened up. We continue to learn valuable information through their program and calls. For such a large purchase, we felt we wanted to arm ourselves with the critical information to make an informed purchase.
